VJ Tools

For years I built a plugin that turns Unreal Engine 5 into a live performance instrument. No coding required. I used it at Sónar, Mutek, shows in planetariums, festivals I curated myself, projection mappings, and more. It works. It went on pause. I'm coming back to finish it.

Unreal Engine wasn't built for the stage. Camera control requires blueprints. Switching scenes mid-show needs sequences. The spontaneity that live performance demands isn't something the engine offers out of the box — and trying to improvise inside it feels like performing with your hands tied. Dogrush VJ Tools adds a live layer on top of UE5 without replacing it or breaking what you already built.

Camera control without code
Presets, angles, behaviors — switchable mid-performance from any controller or keyboard. No blueprints.
Scene and level switching
Jump between environments instantly without leaving the performance state.
MIDI, OSC & audio
Connect any MIDI controller or OSC source. Audio analysis, tap timers, animation curves — all mappable.
Non-destructive
Doesn't touch your existing UE content. Plug it in, perform, and your project stays intact.
Preset system
Save and recall complete states — built-in presets or your own, per show, per venue.
Broadcast-ready
Works alongside Resolume, Touch Designer, OBS and NDI. Performs as part of your existing rig.
On pause since 2024 · Returning 2026

The core works — I confirmed that in real contexts. What's left is finishing: UX polish, documentation, making setup less painful for people who aren't me. Paused in 2024. Resuming in 2026 and releasing free and open. No business plan attached. Just a tool I want to exist in the world.
